WIP: Space Marine Terminator Captain

More progress on the Start Collecting! Space Marines box set.

Managed to steal a little more hobby time last week, and worked on the terminator captain included in the kit. It's a fun model, and I've always enjoyed painting capes - something therapeutic about painting the recesses and highlights to exaggerate the folds.

Thought I'd paint him in ultramarines blue. My force is grey with blue trim, but I wanted him to stand out - and this is keeping within the theme.

I'll finish up the head and power sword later this week, and he should be good to go!

  1. Love it, is that freehand braid detailing on the cape? It looks fantastic!

    1. Oh. Lord, no. I don't have the skill for that. I just edge brushed the sculpted trim on the cape.

  2. Lovely and smooth and great cape, I was doing a cape yesterday, not sure mine is as smooth tho... he does look quite UM, maybe he needs a Grey Shoulder Pauldron to link into rest of force? Or Kneepad?

    1. I air brushed a very subtle gradient on the cape, and then highlighted the crests with a lighter red.
