Happy to finally knock another model off the to-do list. This guy came together pretty quick, but was interrupted a lot by the yet-to-be-finished Strike Squad. I love Trip's jump Librarian, but I think my changes did a good job of hiding the original model pretty well. It was fun to see how we each treated the model a little differently. Helps me appreciate how smooth his paint jobs are. My boys are (partially by design) a little more grungy.
I've still got a lot to learn about Green Stuff, but all told, I can't be too upset with the conversion on the chest piece. The Inquisition =][= came out decently despite my inability to smooth that crap out, and I really like the addition of the book on this guy. I don't understand why anyone would want to wear something like that in to battle, so my Terminators were spared that embarrassment along with that sight-blocking shoulder shield, but it's a fun touch on an HQ guy like this. My freehand is getting a little better each time. Lightning is getting better. Keep on truckin'.
There you have it. Another one bites the dust. Let's see how much I can get done on the Strike Squad this weekend. Stormraven is calling my name!

I like it! You know what I've found really helps smooth out GS? I read it online somewhere: nivea skin cream. I'm sure other brands work as well, but that's what I heard about and I found a tin (like shoe polish) instead of a tube at Target, I think it was. I had been using water before but the cream makes a big difference. Even using metal sculpting tools they come out shiny-smooth once dried. Give it a shot. If you want to splurge, get some firm silicone shapers (sometimes called paint shapers) as well.

You are fucking kidding me with the details on that book! Holy hell, that is nuts! Dude, you not only implied text, but drop caps as well, and then wrote the word "SMITE" in an OPEN FACED font!

meh. you've got the skills to do it. It's mostly about the consistency of the paint. I still struggle to get that right. Too thick and you smudge the hell out of it, too thin and it spreads (like on some of the purity seals). If you've got the right consistency, it's like writing with a pencil. Helps to have some magnifying goggles too :)
