WIP: Broadside- The End is Nigh

Not a ton of hobby time this week, but some important steps taken on the Broadside.  He's a real boy!

Had a busy weekend, family and girlfriend obligations, but I managed to clear coat all my parts and get this guy glued together. Fun to see it in (mostly) one piece finally. I was a little all-over-the-place in my painting. Did some decals, some wash, some highlighting, some battle damage/wear, but didn't really finish any of it.

Rail Rifle conversion success!

Now that it's clear coated, I can really put the finishing touches on it. This is my first model that's getting battle damage, so I was eager to experiment. It becomes pretty clear once you do it on your first model that damage should be pretty much the last step, but I didn't put any thought in to it and was eager to try some stuff out.  Really happy with how it's coming along, but I need to be good and finish my edging before I break out the grey paint again. Base colors, decals, freehand details, edge, then beat it up.  Need to get that order in to my head.

HYMP- might actually like it even better

I was trying both painted on chips and drybrushing, and I think I've decided that I like about a 20/80% mix of the two. The painted on stuff is hard to make look natural but covers better and is easier to control. The drybrushed stuff looks great and natural, but you sacrifice some control. Just for the hell of it, I'm probably going to go back and edge highlight some of the bigger scratches. Trying to step up my game!

Somebody got a boo-boo on his knee

The whole time I've been working on this Broadside, I've been painting up all the various drones that come with the Pathfinder kit.  They're coming along nicely, and I'm eager to try those out. I will probably post them up next week.  Finally got all my paint shipments in, so I'll be able to get back to work on my Firewarriors soon, and even my Grey Knights.

  2. yeah, that's about all I've done at this point. A couple of random swipes of the brush elsewhere, just experimenting. Plenty more to do.
