WIP: Necron Immortals: wave 2

I've finished up the immortals from the second battle force box. Pics and details after the jump.

Making good on my new year's resolutions, more progress on my Necron army. I completed the second set of five immortals to make the total number ten.

I painted them as I do all my necrons, completing the shoulder armor first, then masking them and painting the rest of the model in metallics.

The immortals will occupy a slot in the reclamation legion that I need to complete, in order to run the new decurion detachment in the latest codex. — That is, if I can find a box of Tomb Blades.. They seem to be sold out everywhere, and are going for insane prices on ebay...

  1. Interesting note on tomb blades. Had no idea ebay'ers would be spiking their prices. It's a shame GW didn't make a reclamation box, which just included everything for the base deployment..

  2. or, you know, just made sure they had stock of a unit that was going to be required to complete their basic formation...

    1. Ha, definitely. Sometimes I wonder about them. It's obvious they want to make money, then leave wide openings for profit just sitting around.

    2. Model sales have nothing to do with rules. Duh!

  3. Was assembly a problem with these? I know a Necron player friend who had huge problems with the weapons "tubes" around the bodies and said they don't align.

    1. You have to be reaaaally careful when clipping from the sprues. Each back aligns with one gun. Some "mostly" align, but if you don't follow the match ups exactly, you'll end up with some that look odd, or don't line up right.

If you get overly excited, and clip everything off the sprue, then start working on them, you are going to have some frustrations.

    2. this is EXACTLY what happened on my first batch of 5, and I spent hours sorting them out. This time, I followed the instructions one by one, clipping out only the backs, fronts and arms as noted to avoid the frustration. do this, and they fit together perfectly.

    3. Yes...I only know this because I did the exact same thing trip...the worst bit? You CAN make them force fit, but then it's a battle and if you ever drop one it freaking EXPLODES, because it's basically a loaded spring!
