WIP: I need a name for my Chaos Warband

Painting a Chaos army was something I had always wanted to do but really never found it suited what I wanted to paint.  That is, until I read The Talon of Horus.  In my opinion it's one of the best 40K novels thus far.  It's essentially about the inception of the Black Crusades, and what happened to Abaddon after the Heresy.  10,000 years later, perhaps some of the message was lost, but Abaddon makes it sound like he has - or at least 'had' - noble intentions.

SHOWCASE: Aegis Defense Line

After spending months on the last model, you gotta love a project that paints up start to finish in just days. I decided this time to focus on weathering techniques, as this is a model that's easy to fix if it gets screwed up. I learned a good bit on some of my tools. Check out the full results after the break.

WIP: Necron Army - Part 6: Broken passengers, broken earth.

Work continues on the Necron battleforce as I finish the bases and tackle the Ghost Ark's many parts.

H.O.W. TO: Aged metal using an airbrush...well...not completely.

I don't think I'll ever finish this gorram Reaver Titan.  I always had this philosophy that if I paint a model for someone else, it would prevent me from actually getting one.  You see, part of the main reason why I buy so many Forge World models is largely because I want to paint them.  PAINT ALL THE MODELS!

WIP: Aegis Defense Line

I've been stealing Trip's Aegis for over a year whenever we play.  It was well past time for me to get my own.

NOTICE: Reference Images

This week's post is a quick one. I've added a new link on the toolbar above for reference images. I've been collecting images for years of interesting surfaces, patterns, or just things I want to remember for future art projects.  Problem is I never had a place to put them, so they've all just disappeared in to the depths of 3 different computers' hard drives.  I went to Nashville last week for a few days and found a wealth of inspiration, from weathering metal and wood to OSL.

This collection is pretty modest for the time being, but I intend to add to it, and invite the other blog contributors to do the same (it's in the pages section rather than the posts, gents). You can't paint what you can't picture in your head.  I hope these images and the ones to follow can help all of us get better with our painting.

SHOWCASE: Blood Angels 2nd Company

I recently found in my closet a completely unopened Blood Angels Battleforce, Space Marines Command Squad, and a few other unopened kits.  I have no recollection where they came from, when I got them, or how I ended up forgetting about them (I once bought the Macragge boxed set and there was a Command Squad sprue included in it accidentally.  Score!).  So needless to say, I dove in with reckless glee and thought I'd share some of the results.

REVIEW: Tamiya Weathering Master

Been a little while since we put up a review.  Today I'd like to share my initial thoughts on a product I've just started using: Tamiya Weathering Master.

WIP: IX Legion Astartes - Blood Angels

Forgive me for the tardy post.  Changing jobs and the chaos involved had taken up more time than I had anticipated.

This entry started off as a showcase post, but after looking over my models realizing most of them were only 80-90% finished, I had decided to do a WIP post instead; especially after Wednesday's Grey Knights Stormraven  hotness post.  That's a tough one to follow.

SHOWCASE: Grey Knights Stormraven

Put a fork in it.  The Stormraven is done! At more than 2 months and who knows how many hours, this is easily the most time I've ever put in to a single model. Pretty darn happy with how it came out, and I can't wait to field it! Dangerous amounts of model porn after the break.
