SHOWCASE: Trip's 2017 Year-end Recap

I'll be damned, I actually managed to get a few things done last year!

2014 and 2015 were prolific. 2016? Not so much. It sure felt like I didn't do any hobbying in 2017, but looking over my posts, it seems I managed to finish at least a few projects that had been collecting dust on my hobby table. Let's dive in!

JANUARY
I completed the Terminator Captain from the Start Collecting! boxed set.

FEBRUARY
I created an unboxing video for the Start Collecting! Astra Militarum set.

MARCH
I finished Ennon Sorrlock and Vael Donatus from the Deathwatch: Overkill boxed set.

APRIL
I completed the Chimera for my Astra Militarum army.

MAY
I painted Rodricus Grytt of Squad Donatus.

And completed a squadron of two Leman Russ Battle Tanks! Love, love, LOVE doing vehicles!

JUNE
I finished a squad of ten Ultramarines Veterans from the Start Collecting! boxed set. Very pleased with the Sgt's pose in this unit.

And I built a set of fortress walls from electronics foam. This was actually one of my New Year's goals.

JULY
Following my progress on the fortress ruins, I completed more line of sight blocking terrain.

AUGUST - DECEMBER
Hiatus. Didn't do much hobbying, but I sure played a ton of Skyrim in VR!

Altogether, not a bad year. Somehow I found more hobby time than I recal, and managed to check off some of my resolutions as well!

RESOLUTIONS
- Create line of sight blocking terrain COMPLETE
- Complete Deatwatch: Overkill marines PROGRESS
- Complete Start Collecting! Space Marines boxed set PROGRESS
- Finish IG vehicles COMPLETE
- Create Video Showcases INCOMPLETE

I completed a couple goals and made progress on others. The only shortcoming was failing to make any video showcases.

RESOLUTIONS FOR 2018
- Finish Deathwatch: Overkill Marines
- Sell my unwanted models on ebay
- Complete Start Collecting! Space Marines boxed set
- Complete Astra Militarum Valkyrie
- Purchase a long term storage solution for ALL my models

Here's to another prosperous new year!

  1. Let's get a game or two in too, eh? I actually broke out the paints for a few minutes last week before getting wifed. Need some game time to get my juices flowing again.
