WIP: Alpha Legion 'Fiend- Paint Finished
This has been another painfully long project, but the slog is finally coming to a close. The primary paint is complete. Now just have to paint up the base and do my weathering and I'm on to new units!
A big thing I worked on over the last week was the glow from the demon engine. I haven't spent much time on my blends yet. I'm not too clean with them and will definitely have to take some time to watch some videos and work on them. Overall, they came out pretty good for a first attempt. The model itself is pretty wonky- especially on the sides of the Ectoplasma Cannons. There's some weird stringers coming off of the coils that I really should have shaved off before painting. They kind of mess up the effect a little bit, but I'm over it for now. I'll probably add some OSL glow to the surrounding areas after weathering is done.
Something I started back on my Nemesis Dreadknight was using the Vallejo alcohol metallics silver on the pistons. I think it really adds a nice mirror chrome punch to those that the GW and Vallejo model color just can't pull off. They'll look really slick when I get the oil wash on them and grease them up a bit. Come to think of it, I might have to go back and add that to the Dreadknight too. I bought some MIG grease stain effect a while back and am eager to try that out.
So I'm down to the end of it. Will have to make a trek to my storage unit to dig out all my weathering stuff so I can finish this off. I'm sure the fiance will love having another box of crap brought in to our tiny apartment.

Light at the end of the tunnel!
ReplyDeleteWhich metallics are they from Vallejo? The Liquid Gold series? I love their Liquid White Gold for highlighting their Liquid Gold as well as the Liquid Silver which is what I'm using on my Warlord Titan.
ReplyDeleteThat beast looks utterly amazing.
