H.O.W. TO: Jungle Bases pt.1- Sculpting Vines and Leaves
As requested, here's the tutorial for how I do my jungle bases for my Grey Knights. This will be a step-by-step on sculpting vines and leaves, followed by pt2 with the whole painting process.

WIP: Dreadknight pt5- Base Work
Lots of work on my Dreadknight base this week. After last week I was pretty worried about the chipping medium shown in last Friday's post, but I may be in the clear. Let's check it out.

WIP: Nemesis Dreadknight pt.3- Now with paint!
OK, so that picture doesn't relate to the title at all, but who wants to see a bunch of silver crap on sticks in the header image? I'm super excited to get paint on this guy. Base coats done! Let's check the progress.

WIP: Nemesis Dreadknight pt2
All the work traveling has kept me away from the modeling table for a few weeks. Was happy to finally make a little progress on my Dreadknight. Check out the latest after the break.

REFERENCE: Lizardmen
Work has had me traveling like a madman lately and haven't had any hobby time in weeks other than a great game with Trip on Sunday. Last week I found myself in Mexico City with a little extra time on my hands so I stopped in to their National History Museum. They've got a great collection of Aztec and Mayan art: perfect reference for that Lizardmen army I've been dreaming of. Picture time!

I've been using Sabol foam trays for pretty much my entire two years in the hobby. I finally ponied up for an actual case. See my thoughts after the break.

Deet posted his Aegis last week, and as I needed something to fill in for Darian's post while he's busy with Star Citizen, I thought I'd share mine.

WIP: I need a name for my Chaos Warband
Painting a Chaos army was something I had always wanted to do but really never found it suited what I wanted to paint. That is, until I read The Talon of Horus. In my opinion it's one of the best 40K novels thus far. It's essentially about the inception of the Black Crusades, and what happened to Abaddon after the Heresy. 10,000 years later, perhaps some of the message was lost, but Abaddon makes it sound like he has - or at least 'had' - noble intentions.

SHOWCASE: Aegis Defense Line
After spending months on the last model, you gotta love a project that paints up start to finish in just days. I decided this time to focus on weathering techniques, as this is a model that's easy to fix if it gets screwed up. I learned a good bit on some of my tools. Check out the full results after the break.

H.O.W. TO: Aged metal using an airbrush...well...not completely.
I don't think I'll ever finish this gorram Reaver Titan. I always had this philosophy that if I paint a model for someone else, it would prevent me from actually getting one. You see, part of the main reason why I buy so many Forge World models is largely because I want to paint them. PAINT ALL THE MODELS!

NOTICE: Reference Images
This week's post is a quick one. I've added a new link on the toolbar above for reference images. I've been collecting images for years of interesting surfaces, patterns, or just things I want to remember for future art projects. Problem is I never had a place to put them, so they've all just disappeared in to the depths of 3 different computers' hard drives. I went to Nashville last week for a few days and found a wealth of inspiration, from weathering metal and wood to OSL.
This collection is pretty modest for the time being, but I intend to add to it, and invite the other blog contributors to do the same (it's in the pages section rather than the posts, gents). You can't paint what you can't picture in your head. I hope these images and the ones to follow can help all of us get better with our painting.

WIP: IX Legion Astartes - Blood Angels
Forgive me for the tardy post. Changing jobs and the chaos involved had taken up more time than I had anticipated.
This entry started off as a showcase post, but after looking over my models realizing most of them were only 80-90% finished, I had decided to do a WIP post instead; especially after Wednesday's Grey Knights Stormraven hotness post. That's a tough one to follow.

SHOWCASE: Grey Knights Stormraven
Put a fork in it. The Stormraven is done! At more than 2 months and who knows how many hours, this is easily the most time I've ever put in to a single model. Pretty darn happy with how it came out, and I can't wait to field it! Dangerous amounts of model porn after the break.

H.O.W. TO: Airbrushing a vehicle using the Pre-Shading method.
Today I wanted to share a technique that radically changed how I paint minis. Airbrushing has completely altered how I paint, what colors I use, and how I go about painting a model from start to finish, especially vehicles and walkers.

WIP: Grey Knights Stormraven- Stay On Target
I set myself a lofty goal of trying to finish the Stormraven two weeks ago. That was a little shortsighted with the release of Destiny. I spent enough time sprawled awkwardly on the couch with a controller in my hand that I pretty much destroyed my back (true story). Still, I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made and have kicked my case of paint-job-disappointment. Let's see where I've gotten.

FEATURE: New Painter
H.O.W. is proud to introduce another new painter into our family. Born to Trip and his wife on Friday night! He'll be taking over Saturday posts starting in 2022. His painting style is a little sloppy at the moment due to his inability to see color or much beyond rough silhouettes, and the death grip he puts on his brush whenever it gets near him makes his lines a little squiggly. In time he'll serve The Emperor well and we look forward to his contributions.
Congrats Trip!

SHOWCASE: Primarch of the XII Legion World Eaters - Angron Thal'kyr, the Red Angel
Since it looks like we have a wide range of different topics of posts, I thought I'd try to hone my Friday posts with a certain theme. I primarily focus on the Horus Heresy setting for my hobbying; therefore, the majority of my posts will most likely encompass the Forge World models for that game setting.
